‘The Gold Den’ Bank/Bar/Smoking Rooms For AGE System

I created this place and included it in my Dragon Age (AGE system) conversion of Freeport, but you could use this place anywhere. In Thedas I personally am having this be connected to the Carta industries and have placed it in Freeport, in the Waking Sea.

Welcome to ‘The Gold Den’.

The Gold Den. A favourite haunt by sea raiders.

The place is recognisable even off the coast at night from the huge gold coin suspended as its iconic logo, with the name of the place etched into it.

When the sun goes down, the who place begins to glow outwards into the street and night waters ahead. This is partly from the huge coin design (only a painted but shiny metal) and partly from the angular lamp lighting that bounces off the walls and floor in and around, which are painted white.

A policy exists of no bloodshed inside, therefore weapons are surrendered at the door. All who come here can count on peace as one of the few places you can find it.
Those who break the law in any way, smuggling weapons or the like are dragged into the cellars below and used as sport in the fighting cages versus whatever the establishment can dream up on that day. The policy of bloodshed below doesn’t apply inside the cages. He who steps in relinquishes all rights to protection under The Gold Den by-laws. As such, those who have already committed “crimes” and dragged there have already relinquished their rights.

AGE System Google+ Community Now Open

AGE-SystemGoogle+ introduced the new feature of Communities recently and it is a good one: think of a clubhouse where you can have discussions, share posts, plan events and hang out, all with people sharing your one specific topic of interest. Even before I could say “Awesome,” someone had already built a Community for fans of the AGE System.

Head over to the AGE RPG System Community on Google+ and join in the conversation. They have shared with the group links to some resources that have been around for a bit, but there is also new topics being discussed all the time.

As I head into my last semester of nursing school and barely have time to sleep, the AGE G+ Community is a great place to get your continuing dose of AGE System/Dragon Age RPG talk and articles. I hope you’ll join in.

Dragon Age RPG Set 3 Update

Dragon Age RPG Set 3

Dragon Age RPG Developer Will Hindmarch posted an update about Set 3 over at the Green Ronin forums, which I am linking and quoting parts of below:

Set 3 files are in editing and approvals and re-development (in response to editing and approvals) even now. Things continue to move forward with new DLC for Dragon Age and the Adventure Game Engine. DLC releases will resume in the new year, although perhaps sporadically as the schedule for those gets ironed out.

And regarding the future of the Dragon Age RPG and AGE System, Hindmarch adds:

Please know that when it comes to the future of the Dragon Age line, Green Ronin wants you to be happy with the game and with your experiences playing it. Chris Pramas created a wonderful game, running on a terrific engine, and the game and engine are approaching an exciting year of new talent and new products. Please stay tuned to the forums and the Ronin Roundtables — I think you’ll be glad you did.

All signs point to a PDF release in January 2013, with the physical boxed set sometime in the spring. While, like every fan, I’m a bit bummed about the delay, I have no problem waiting. I understand the process of dealing with a licensor that has to approve material and how that can affect release schedules, so I can appreciate Green Ronin’s position. In the end, I know we’ll have a fantastic set for the game, and that’s all that matters.
