AGE System Google+ Community Now Open

AGE-SystemGoogle+ introduced the new feature of Communities recently and it is a good one: think of a clubhouse where you can have discussions, share posts, plan events and hang out, all with people sharing your one specific topic of interest. Even before I could say “Awesome,” someone had already built a Community for fans of the AGE System.

Head over to the AGE RPG System Community on Google+ and join in the conversation. They have shared with the group links to some resources that have been around for a bit, but there is also new topics being discussed all the time.

As I head into my last semester of nursing school and barely have time to sleep, the AGE G+ Community is a great place to get your continuing dose of AGE System/Dragon Age RPG talk and articles. I hope you’ll join in.

Dragon Age RPG Set 3 Update

Dragon Age RPG Set 3

Dragon Age RPG Developer Will Hindmarch posted an update about Set 3 over at the Green Ronin forums, which I am linking and quoting parts of below:

Set 3 files are in editing and approvals and re-development (in response to editing and approvals) even now. Things continue to move forward with new DLC for Dragon Age and the Adventure Game Engine. DLC releases will resume in the new year, although perhaps sporadically as the schedule for those gets ironed out.

And regarding the future of the Dragon Age RPG and AGE System, Hindmarch adds:

Please know that when it comes to the future of the Dragon Age line, Green Ronin wants you to be happy with the game and with your experiences playing it. Chris Pramas created a wonderful game, running on a terrific engine, and the game and engine are approaching an exciting year of new talent and new products. Please stay tuned to the forums and the Ronin Roundtables — I think you’ll be glad you did.

All signs point to a PDF release in January 2013, with the physical boxed set sometime in the spring. While, like every fan, I’m a bit bummed about the delay, I have no problem waiting. I understand the process of dealing with a licensor that has to approve material and how that can affect release schedules, so I can appreciate Green Ronin’s position. In the end, I know we’ll have a fantastic set for the game, and that’s all that matters.

Two New Dragon Age Projects From Dark Horse

At New York Comic Con, Dark Horse Comics announced two new Dragon Age projects:

First is the Dragon Age Encyclopedia: World of Thedas.  It will contain hundres of pieces of art related to the gaming franchise and will have everything a player or reader needs to know about the regions, religions, monsters and magic of Dragon Age.  The first volume will be out in April, but the series will span multiple installments.

The second is another original Dragon Age comic: Until We Sleep, penned by lead writer of the game series David Gaider.  The story will be scripted by Alexander Freed and art is by Chad Hardin.  The story will follow King Alistair who “allied with the world’s most feared warrior race—the Qunari—the pirate Isabela, and the rogue Varric, brings a battle royal to the evil mage responsible for his father’s disappearance!”

Fans of Thedas are sure to love these books, so keep an eye out for them.

Dragon Age RPG Set 3 News

We’ve been hearing about Dragon Age Set 3 since Gen Con. There’s been some tweets, tidbits shared in person and digitally, but now we have an official news article with the information we’ve all been wanting to hear.

As reported by ICv2, Dragon Age RPG Set 3, covering character levels 11-20, is schedule to be released in January 2013. As reported by Green Ronin, this is the expected release date for the boxed set, which will retail for $39.95; the PDF is expected to be released around November 2012, at the same time as the pre-order period for the boxed set starts.

So what will we see in this third and final boxed set for the Dragon Age RPG? I’m glad you asked. As reported by ICv2:

Set 3 will include new specializations (chevalier, force mage, and shadow), and new spells, talents, and backgrounds.  New monsters for gamemasters to deploy will be included, including stats for high dragons and the Archdemon. Also included in Set 3: rune magic for weapons and armor; narrative rules for mass battles; new info on Orlais and the Tevinter Imperium; a full length adventure, and accessories.

Excited yet? I know I am! As we find out more information (like what accessories will be included, for example) we’ll share it here, on our Twitter and Google Plus accounts.
